Balchik is an old beautiful town, which has preserved the atmosphere of ancient times. It’s believed that the goddess of beauty -Aphrodite- rose from the sea-foam here. In recent times the town had been under Romanian rule. The Romanian Queen Maria Louisa commissioned famous architects to build a unique Summer Residence and Botanical Garden, in which there are more than 3000 different plants. The beautiful queen wanted to be alone and suffer her unfortunate love amongst the beauties of her Residence and its unique Botanical Garden.

Here is one of the most famous exotic cactus gardens in Europe. The Residence and the church are build with stones bought from Crete. In the Garden of Allah earthen jars are brought from Morocco, there are a beautiful waterfall and water- lilies under centuries old plane trees. At all that a magic scent of Magnolia is spread. It’s no wonder why after the death of Queen Maria Louisa her heart was preserved here.
